Job Summary
The Deputy Treasurer plays a strategic role in supporting the Treasurer in the management of the Bank’s liquidity, funding, investments, and balance sheet optimisation. The role is responsible for ensuring efficient cash flow management, regulatory compliance, and the effective execution of treasury strategies that drive profitability, capital efficiency, and risk management.
The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining the Bank’s financial stability by overseeing treasury activities, monitoring market risks, and supporting asset-liability management initiatives in line with regulatory and organisational objectives.

Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of the Bank’s treasury strategy in alignment with corporate goals and financial objectives.
- Monitor and manage the Bank’s daily liquidity position to ensure adequate funding and efficient utilisation of cash resources.
- Oversee money market activities, fixed income investments, foreign exchange funding, and other treasury investment activities within approved risk limits.
- Monitor interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and market risk exposure while ensuring compliance with ALCO directives and regulatory requirements.
- Support Asset and Liability Management (ALM) activities, including balance sheet optimisation and funding strategies.
- Prepare and present treasury reports for ALCO, Executive Management, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure strict compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations, prudential guidelines, and internal treasury policies.
- Supervise treasury operations, settlements, reconciliations, and related back-office activities to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain and support strong working relationships with correspondent banks, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders.
- Represent and act on behalf of the Treasurer when required.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of treasury operations, liquidity management, and financial markets.
- Good understanding of CBN regulations, prudential guidelines, and banking compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills with sound decision-making ability.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and risk awareness.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, or ACT will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in Treasury, Financial Markets, or Banking Operations.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
